Where Ya' Rack?

Where Ya' Rack? -  works to install unique and secure bicycle parking racks throughout New Orleans to encourage cycling as an environmentally friendly and healthy transportation option for commuting, short trips, and errands. Racks are purchased by citizens, businesses or property owners and installed by YLC member-volunteers.

Zurich Financial Services Pledges 20 Bike Racks to New Orleans Schools

Zurich Financial Services has been donating school supplies to the Young Leadership Council's (YLC) Teacher Assistance Network (TAN) project since 2006 after Hurricane Katrina's rising waters inundated the city of New Orleans.

In December 2009,  they approached the YLC and Where Ya' Rack? about a new way to help local schools: installing new bike racks for the students to use.  Zurich is stepping up to the challenges we all face in order to improve New Orleans schools.  Their pledge of 20 bike racks to 5 different schools will encourage future cyclists, improve health, and provide a closer sense of community to those students who ride to school.  Some of these schools have received Safe Routes to School funding from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, so additional bike racks will supplement the effort to get more children out of cars as their way to get to school.  It has been shown that when students exercise first thing in the morning, either through walking or biking to school, or by having physical education before their classes, they have higher test scores across the board.

Zurich's sponsorship of 20 Where Ya' Rack? bike racks is a down-payment on a quality of education and physical health we all desire for our communities.
