How to Get Started

With a multitude of community projects and committees plus an endless number of member benefits, it is important to take the time to find out what you want to get out of your membership and get involved with projects you feel passionate about. Below you will find five great ways to "jumpstart" your membership!

Attend a JumpStart Meeting

Held on the second Tuesday of every month at 6:00 pm at the YLC Building (1840 Euterpe St), this meeting provides an overview of the YLC at work in our community. All new and prospective members are invited to come have a drink and learn about opportunities to volunteer and get engaged in the YLC's community projects. Visit the YLC calendar to view details for the next JumpStart.

Join a YLC Standing Committee

One of the best leadership development opportunities in the YLC is to actually help run the organization by serving on one of the YLC's standing committees. Standing committees include: Membership Committee, Communications Committee, Development/Fundraising Committee and Investment Committee.

Volunteer for a Project of Your Choice

The YLC currently has active community projects that focus on quality of life issues from infrastructure repair and beautification to education outreach, economic development to arts and culture. Review our project list on the YLC website to see what interests you. There are always opportunities and volunteer needs within each project.

Feel free to contact any of the project leaders listed to learn more or email jonnie@youngleadershipcouncil.org. We want to ensure you are integrated into the projects you are interested in immediately.

Start a New Project

Do you have a great idea about something the YLC can do to improve our community in some way? If so, let us introduce you to our VP of Projects so you can pitch your idea. Who knows...your idea could become an official YLC project! To review the process for starting up a project, click here.

Read The Weekly Mark

As a YLC member, you will begin receiving our weekly e-newsletter, called The Weekly Mark (as in "leave your mark"). It keeps individuals informed on all of the upcoming YLC events and volunteer opportunities.

Just Show Up!

The YLC has a number of different events each month from informational meetings about current events and issues to monthly socials, there's always an opportunity to meet new people and work on exciting initiatives meant to better our community. See the YLC calendar for the full list of events.
